PSSI said that the press conference will also be broadcast live via YouTube PSSI and the Indonesian national team.

Herdman was officially announced as coach of the Indonesian national team on Saturday last week. PSSI called Herdman's announcement as head coach marking the start of a new era of national football.

The 50-year-old England coach has the track record the PSSI is looking for to get Indonesia through to the World Cup.

This is because Herdman is noted as the only coach in the world to successfully take the men's and women's national teams of one country to the World Cup.

With the New Zealand women's national team, Herdman featured in the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, and made history by winning two consecutive Olympic bronze medals in 2012 and 2016.

Meanwhile, in the men's sector, Herdman successfully led Canada to the 2022 Qatar World Cup, a historical moment for them after 36 years. Canada's moment to the World Cup led their then-current FIFA ranking from 77th to 33rd in the world.

Once appointed, Herdman and the Garuda team will appear in the FIFA Series played at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on FIFA Match Day 23—31 March 2026.
