NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A tractor-trailer drove over a Jersey wall on I-664 in Newport News on Monday night, rupturing its belly tank and spilling around 200 gallons of fuel on the roadway.
Police say the crash happened around 6:20 p.m. at mile marker 3 in the area of Chesnut and Roanoke avenues.
There are no details on what caused the crash or the extent of the driver’s injuries at this time, but police are at the scene investigating.
VDOT says all but one lane going north are back open, but all southbound lanes remain closed.
Drivers should expect delays.
