Found a home, February 2008
Buddy, male
Age: about 10 months
Buddy was born as a result of an unwanted pregnancy of a family dog, who ran away and got pregnant even though her owners tried to watch over her and to prevent that. Buddy had five brothers and sisters. The family tried to find them homes but didn’t succeed, and kept them for about a month until they started wandering around the house and making the usual mess that puppies make – destroying furniture, shoes and sofas. Since the family didn’t want puppies and had no time to deal with them, they dumped them in a moshav, like many people do, because there “somebody is sure to take care of them.” Two of the puppies got run over by passing cars, while four found various homes. Buddy was adopted by a guy who cropped the puppy’s ears and tail by himself, since no vet agreed to perform this illegal act. Afterwards, he decided he no longer wanted the dog and gave him up at the Rehovot municipality quarantine. Buddy’s ears got badly inflamed due to the botched operation, so we took him into the shelter and treated him. He is now a healthy and happy dog who is still a bit weary of people after all his traumatic experiences, but he is looking for a loving home that will help him regain his faith in humankind.
